quietjar
A support button with a finish line

Ask when it matters. Then go quiet.

Set a goal for a real cost, like this month's hosting. The button shows up on your site, your supporters cover it in two taps, and it steps aside until you need it again.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is QuietJar?
A small, polished support button for your own website. Give it a goal for a real cost, and it only asks until that cost is covered.
Do I need a separate account or page for my visitors?
No. The button works right on your site. There is an optional hosted page for people who prefer one, but you do not need it.
How is this different from the donation tools I already know?
Most tools have earned their place. Ko-fi charges 5% on tips by default (0% only on a paid Gold plan) and Buy Me a Coffee has the friendliest brand around. Both have goals, but their button keeps asking whether the goal is met or not. QuietJar asks while there is a real cost to cover, then goes quiet.QuietJar vs Ko-fiQuietJar vs Buy Me a Coffee
Can I use it alongside GitHub Sponsors or Patreon?
Yes. GitHub Sponsors is the right default on your repo. QuietJar is for your site, where most of your readers actually are. Use both.
Will it slow down my site?
No. The script is 11.7 kB gzipped, loads in about 40 ms and causes no layout shift.
What does it cost?
No monthly fee. No plans to compare. QuietJar takes 5% of each donation, minimum €0.50, and pays the card fees. Donations are €1 to €500. It costs you nothing until it is earning you something.See the pricing page
When do I get paid?
Donations reach your QuietJar balance after a few days. Once your available balance reaches 50 EUR (or the local equivalent), pay it out to your bank account from your dashboard with one click.
What payment methods can my supporters use?
Apple Pay, Google Pay, cards, and iDEAL. Your visitors see the method they already use, not a card form.
Will my visitors trust paying on my site?
They pay through the same regulated rails as any checkout. What they see is Apple Pay, Google Pay, or their own bank's iDEAL screen. Nothing unfamiliar, nothing to type.
What happens when my goal is met?
By default the button steps aside, so your site stops asking. With a monthly goal it comes back when the next month starts. You can also keep the button, or keep the button and the full bar.
What happens after someone supports me?
QuietJar steps back. After someone gives, the button takes a break: 30 days by default, and you choose how long. Your biggest supporters get thanked instead of nagged.
Is my data and my supporters' data in the EU?
Yes. Payments and data stay on European infrastructure, and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
How do I add it to my site?
Paste a small piece of code, pick your design, and it is live. It takes minutes, and it fits the look of your page.

Ask for what you need. Then let it rest.

Add the button to your site in minutes, set your first goal, and let your people cover it.
